Toystore Kidspace Taos For Kids Cool Stuff About Us Home
  Amy Wyss Founder
Amy is the light bulb of Twirl, generating ideas at a supersonic rate, which leaves her team feeling energized, enthused and exhausted all at the same time. The original visionary behind Twirl, she put her talent for thinking outside the box to a new use shortly after having a family. As a seasoned traveler with two young boys, Thor and Laird, Amy had visited numerous children's museums and toy stores, both across the nation and in Europe. Some she liked, others she found lacking. This discovery prompted two thoughts: why didn't Taos have anything like this; and why didn't the crazy, magical, wonderful place for children she'd conjured up in her head exist anywhere else? The rest is history, albeit an ongoing one. It remains to be seen where Amy's ideas will take Twirl and the team next.

  Molly McMullin Operations Director
Molly likes playing with toys, opening packages, and hunting down new things to buy. These are her qualifications for running a toy store, as she has little practical business experience. Her two children, have tolerated well the many hours she’s spent at Twirl in the last year, bribed with Twirl trinkets. Her hope for the future is to bring non-Dora/Barbie/Turtle toys to all the children of Taos, and then storm the nation bearing handmade dress-up clothes, suitcase science kits and vegetable-dyed wood toys. She would, however, like you to know that there are also all the same plastic, noisy toys at her house that you probably have at yours.

  Nikki Ross Marketing Director
Nikki, an English gal, moved to Taos in 2005, after meeting her husband, a local, whilst skiing in Chamonix. On moving here, she was amazed to discover that this small town in New Mexico she had never even heard of, had all the things she valued for a healthy, happy life. Nikki and Jake have one daughter, Anabelle, who is best known for her love of other people's shoes. Before joining Twirl, Nikki worked in an international advertising agency in London, UK for eight years, and as a marketing manager for a ski company for two. Her English background is sometimes revealed in her spelling, but she has a good sub-editor in Molly to keep her on track. Nikki’s favourite (sic) thing about working at Twirl is how much fun going to the office now is; Anabelle’s is the shoe exchange bin in the toy store.

Eve Tovino Kidspace and Special Events Director
In the fall of 1999, Eve went on a two month rock climbing vacation around the U.S., discovered Taos and never left. She fell in love with the mountain and the diverse culture. Sunshine in the winter and being able to ski and golf on the same day were things that she never knew existed in one place. Eve and her husband Jay have two daughters, Isabella and Venice. Twirl provides Eve with the ability to be creative while having fun. Playing with toys can be hard work, but it must be done! Previously, Eve has managed dental offices, restaurants, and a jewelry store. She was also a rafting guide, party planner, photographer, nursing assistant, and bartender. What do all these thing have in common? .....A woman who smiles at life (dental), has a big appetite (restaurant), loves to dress up more than the average Taoseno (jewelry), enjoys adventure (rafting), putting her imagination to use (party planner), savors the moment (photographer), and enjoys helping others (nursing and bartending).

  Helen Forte Kidspace Educator
Another Brit, and one who is definitely afflicted with wanderlust, Helen has spent much of her adult life in Central America, where she was, among other things,a teacher, curriculum coordinator and educational consultant, and director of a US international school. She moved to Taos just last year after a spell in the Bahamas, and is hoping to stay a while! Her greatest joys in life are her two children, Maya and Dylan, and of course her husband Kent, a North Carolinian with the same wanderlust combined with a love of all things active and extreme, who is now happily ensconced in the Taos Ski Valley. Helen is thrilled to be a part of the Twirl team and looks forward to sharing the joy with all the children of Taos.

Angela "the Woodland Sprite" Kidspace Coordinator
Angela was born and raised in the Midwest, but is now pleased to call Taos home. She could not be more thrilled to be part of the Twirl team. Her work has always involved children, and she is very happy to be working alongside others who appreciate and encourage creativity in children. She is Eve's right and left hand woman, ensuring Kidspace runs smoothly and happily. Whether it's clearing the leaves and the snow in the courtyard (quite a job!), helping children make Horrible Halloween Hats during craft afternoons, or reminding Eve that there is always tomorrow, Angela is always on hand with a smile, a wink, a song and a dance (no, seriously).

  Angie Henderson Community Liaison
Angie, a Taoseno for nearly 14 years, can still break into a southern drawl when she’s hugging and greeting the Taos community. After a stint as an educator in wilderness camps, the Pueblo day schools, and a middle school here in Taos, she met her husband, John on the school playground, decided to take a break from teaching and have two children, Lachlan and Lils. She soon realized that you never stop teaching. Angie found the perfect transition between family and school life in helping create Twirl with a team of funny, creative, apron-wearing ladies. With kids in tow, she works the playgrounds, the soccer fields, the hockey rink, ice cream shops and various other kid-friendly spots for the latest info on what kids and parents need in Taos. Hopefully you can find all of that on the Twirl website.
